The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier is preparing to hold an open house at the agency's new facility on Binghamton's East Side.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with representatives of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for noon on Monday at the office building at 47 Broad Avenue.

After a lengthy search, the association moved from 153 Court Street to the new site. For many years, the Broad Avenue building was home to BCT Federal Credit Union. Federal regulators seized the property in 2011. The operation was acquired later that year by Visions Federal Credit Union.

Broome County records show the property was purchased by the agency from Visions in April 2017 for $175,000.

Keith Leahey, the director of the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier, said the organization "turned to the community" to launch its first capital campaign to raise the money needed to renovate the building.

Monday's open house is scheduled to run from noon to 2 p.m.
