As many of you know by now, my first job was at McDonald's in Owego. I was loving it the entire time that I was there and it helped me become the person that I am today. When I'm asked about my time at McD's, I'm not asked about the people or the food but about the ice cream machine.

I'm asked how often it went down. I have to admit, the ice cream machine in Owego was an efficient one. It very rarely broke down and was never an issue. Apparently the same can't be said about other McDonald's ice cream machines in the country.

In fact, there is a website called "McBroken" and you can go there and check to see if the McD's near you is ACTUALLY broken.

How To Find Out If The McDonald's Ice Cream Machine Is Broken

So how does that work? Is there someone that calls McDonald's every day and asks if their ice cream machine is working? Nope. It's actually done scientifically. He goes by the name, Rashiq and he...well I'll let him tell you in his own words:

"I reverse engineered mcdonald's internal api and I'm currently placing an order worth $18,752 every minute at every mcdonald's in the US to figure out which locations have a broken ice cream machine."

According to McBroken, almost 35% of the ice cream machines in New York are broken.

So how can you find out if the McDonald's near you is broken or not? Go here and hover and click over the McDonald's and see if it's working, broken or inconclusive. According to McBroken, almost 35% of the ice cream machines in New York are broken. As of writing, it looks like two Binghamton area McDonald's and one in Ithaca won't be able to make you the sweet treat. The good thing about machines though? They can be fixed, so just hang in there!

If you want to see other McDonald's locations in New York and the rest of the United States, just scroll your mouse and go.
