March-Full of Events at Waterman Conservation Center on Southern Tier Close Up

Spring is ready to launch in a big way at the Waterman Conservation Education Center in Apalachin as director Chris Audette details on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up.

Events range from a presentation March 7 on improving your backyard, be it several acres to a teeny slip of grass between buildings, to support wildlife, especially birds to cooking with wild mushrooms.

Audette says the month caps off with a presentation about a seldom seen but amazing bird in our area.  Biologist Andy Welk of the Ruffed Grouse Society is will be telling the story of the American Woodcock at Waterman Center on March 26.

Audette also talks about the treasures available for people to discover not only at the property on Hilton Road in Apalachin but also at other properties including Brick Pond, the IBM Glen, Apalachin Marsh, Hiawatha Island and Pettus Hill Preserve.

In addition to regular presentations and nature walk opportunities Waterman Center also offers summer camp programs.
