Binghamton Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting incident on the North Side that left a man hospitalized with serious injuries.

Authorities say a man approached another man on a porch on Doubleday Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. July 19 and fired several shots. The victim was wounded in the chest and stomach and transported to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center.

City Police say about a half dozen people were on the porch at the time of the shooting.  None of the other people present was apparently hurt.

Police say they believe the victim and suspect know each other and that the incident was a targeted shooting, not a random act of violence.  The authorities said they were sure there was no danger to anyone else in the neighborhood.

The investigation is continuing but it appears witnesses being interviewed have been uncooperative.
