I hate when someone ruins a good thing by trying to find the downside.

There should be no downside to lower gas prices. We save money, we get to drive where we want. What's the big deal?

The party poopers at NPR couldn't leave well enough alone, so they ran with this headline on their website, 'The Downside of Cheaper Gas: More Accident Fatalities.'

Really? Fear mongering? It is so unbecoming!

It is true, but it is because people will be driving more. The odds of more accidents and fatalities going up is logical.

Why not write about the good things that cheaper gas provides? The chance for people to see long distance relatives and friends more, vacations, and just plain saving money.

I guess that isn't as sexy as doom and gloom..
