Dr. Erin Pauling of Binghamton University is the guest on this month's edition of the "Ask the Pharmacist" feature on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program.

Pauling is a clinical assistant professor with the university's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

During the segment, Pauling provided an overview of diabetes, explaining the difference between Type 1 and Type 2. She also discussed the diagnosis of "pre-diabetes."

Pauling also outlined the risk factors and symptoms of diabetes people should know. She explained how people can take a diabetes risk test.

Pauling explained why it's important to know the potential health complications that may be caused by diabetes. She noted diet and exercise can be important in preventing diabetes or in treating it after it has been diagnosed.
