The Emergency First Responders Protection Act would allow charges to be brought against people who harass a Law Enforcement Officer, Firefighter or Emergency Medical Services member while they performing their official duties.  The conviction could carry a one year jail sentence and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

Reynolds is also introducing advisory legislation that asks New York State to adopt the Community Heroes Protection Act sponsored by Senator Akshar and Assemblyman Peter Abbate that would classify many offenses against first responders as hate crimes.
