In 1955
Carl Perkins recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" in Sun Studios in Memphis. (Weird thing is, that Carl ended up getting sick and having to be hospitalized. Elvis recorded the song, released it and it became a big hit)

 

In 1976
Kiss released "Rock and Roll Over." (And it was never ever over for KISS!)

In 1978
The Doors released "An American Prayer." (Hard to believe that those guys prayed alot?)

In 1979
Bob Dylan publicly announced that he'd converted to Christianity as he kicked off a tour in support of his first religious album, "Slow Train Coming."

In 1980
New album releases included REO Speedwagon's "Hi Infidelity" and The Eagles' "Live." (Not to be confused with High Infidelity, Live)

In 1983
U2 released the album "Under A Blood Red Sky." (Spooky scary sky)

In 1986
Roger Waters formally broke up Pink Floyd by going to court and having a judge dissolve the group's partnership. (That wasn't very sporting of him!)

In 1994
Tom Petty released the album "Wildflowers." (And it smelled... em... good!)

In 2000
Jon Bon Jovi was voted the sexiest rock star alive in a "People" magazine poll. (Big Wally was 2nd!)

In 2001
Jon Bon Jovi traveled to California to join the cast of "Ally McBeal."  His recurring character appeared in nine episodes. (Big Wally was not invited, for some reason)

Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley sued the toymaker Risaurus [[ Rih-sah-russ ]] Company for nearly 500-thousand-dollars over a toy guitar.  Frehley said the company had copied his model without permission.

In 2002
The Guess Who were honored in Canada, receiving the Governor's General Performing Arts Award in a ceremony in Ottawa, Ontario.

In 2004
Bruce Springsteen appeared at a campaign rally for Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry in Cleveland, Ohio, while Stevie Wonder took part in a Kerry event in Detroit.

Grand Funk Railroad's former manager Terry Knight died of multiple stab wounds at his apartment in Temple, Texas.  He was 61. (Guess he wasn't doin' the locomotion no more)

Paul McCartney's book "Each One Believing: On Stage, Off Stage, and Backstage," showcasing the former Beatle's 2002 American "Driving U.S.A." and "Back in the U.S." tours and his 2003 European "Back in the World" trek, arrived in stores.

In 2005
Neil Young began a four-night run as the musical guest on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

In 2006
Paul McCartney reportedly met with his late wife Linda's literary agent Peter Cox to give him roughly 380-thousand-dollars for recordings he had that were said to contain the first Mrs. McCartney confessing to problems in her marriage and admitting that she sometimes wanted to leave the former Beatle.

Former Beach Boys band mates Brian Wilson and Al Jardine took the stage together in Los Angeles, marking the first time in a decade that they'd performed together.  The concert launched a series of shows commemorating the 40th anniversary of the album "Pet Sounds." (And Brian was probably stoned outta his ghord)

In 2008
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention drummer Jimmy Carl Black died of lung cancer in Siegsdorf, Germany.  He was 70.

In 2011
Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler received the King of Rock 'n Roll Award at The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund's 1st Annual Awards Gala and Silent Auction Benefit in Holmby Hills, California.

New releases included the Metallica-Lou Reed collaboration "Lulu" and Ace Frehley's book "No Regrets: A Rock N' Roll Memoir."
