U2's Bono received the 2004 Freedom Award from the National Civil Rights Museum at the 13th annual Freedom Award ceremony in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mick Jagger attended the New York premiere of the movie "Alfie."  Jagger and Dave Stewart were behind the majority of the songs on the film's soundtrack album.

Elton John's 1975 rendition of The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" topped a "Beatlefan" magazine list of the most popular covers of a Beatles tune in the U.S.

In 2005
Queen guitarist Brian May was made a Commander of the British Empire, or CBE, while former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and ex-Ultravox frontman Midge Ure received Order of the British Empire awards, or OBEs, from Britain's Queen during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.

The Rolling Stones video for the song "Streets of Love" made its TV debut on the NBC soap opera "Days of Our Lives."

The photo of a naked John Lennon curled around a clothed Yoko Ono which "Rolling Stone" used for its tribute issue honoring the slain Beatle was named the greatest magazine cover of the past 40 years by the American Society of Magazine Editors.

Charlie Daniels received the BMI Icon Award during publisher's BMI's 53rd annual Country Awards gala in Nashville. (So I guess the South Did it Again!)

In 2006
Lawyers for Paul McCartney were denying reported allegations that he had been abusive toward estranged wife Heather Mills.

Rod Stewart's "Still the Same...Great Rock Classics of Our Time" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.  The disc was the singer's first rock record in eight years.

In 2007
The Eagles played the the first-ever concert at the new Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles, launching a six-night stand at the venue with country trio the Dixie Chicks.

Aerosmith fans in Maui launched a class-action lawsuit against the group over a cancelled concert.  Ticketholders accused the band of breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation, and alleged island fans lost up to three-million-dollars in travel expenses and other non-refundable costs.

In 2009
A lock of the late Elvis Presley's hair sold for 18-thousand-300-dollars at an auction in Chicago, while, two of Presley's shirts went for 96-thousand-800-dollars, which was more than 12-times what they were anticipated to bring in.

A man in Cincinnati, Ohio claiming to be Meat Loaf was arrested after he grabbed the wheel of a taxi cab speeding down Interstate 75.  He was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

In 2011
The late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury was recognized for his talent and legacy as well as his cultural heritage at The Asian Awards, which took place in London.  Queen guitarist Brian May and members of Mercury's family participated in honoring Freddie at the ceremony
