Gone Insane! NY Yankees’ Minor League Team Makes Rival Ace Go Nuts

Boston Red Sox left-handed pitcher Chris Sale is a passionate human being. His intensity has led to positive things, like what happened in the 2018 World Series:

...but, it's also led to negative things, like him cutting off the sleeves of jerseys while a member of the Chicago White Sox. He's a player that's easy to root for if he's on your team, and just as easy to despise if he's not.

Sale has been rehabbing from an injury to begin the 2022 MLB season, and as part of his rehab assignment, made a start with the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester Wednesday night. It just so happened that the team was playing the Yankees' affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

After losing control of the strike zone, and being pulled from the game, the negative side of Sale's intensity came out, and a few diligent reporters were there to film the entire thing.

Chris Sale Loses His Mind After Start, Gets Caught on Video

In total, Chris Sale pitched 3.2 innings, and gave up just three hits and one run, while striking out five batters. The issue, however, was the command, as Sale walked five batters, and it was the fifth walk that ultimately led him to be removed from the game.

Sale drew a lot of criticism for his action, and though I know this "happens a lot more than we know" across professional sports, the criticism is well-deserved. Sale is in a minor league ballpark, which has less amenities and less staff members than his usual digs at Fenway Park. They're not nearly as well-equipped to deal with a situation like that, as a Major League ballclub would be.

Updates on the situation have been provided, and it appears as though Sale has made amends.

This was a bad moment for Chris Sale, but to his credit, he made up for it and then some after the initial shock died down. Credit to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, though, as they drove a Major League-level ace to the point of near insanity.
