A Georgia company has started marketing efforts for a 700-resident student housing complex being constructed near the Binghamton University campus in Vestal.

Landmark Properties acquired the 44-acre site west of Bunn Hill Road from the Kradjian family for $6.8 million last October.

A leasing office has been set up in a retail building on the Vestal Parkway at Rano Boulevard.

Landmark Properties has been planning the massive project for seven years. A group of Vestal residents waged an unsuccessful legal effort to prevent the development.

Construction operations at the site about a half-mile south of Binghamton University started about 11 months ago.

The community will consist of 161 cottage-style units in various configurations. The units will range in size from 1,130 to 2,000 square feet with two to five bedrooms.

According to a Retreat at Bunn Hill website, monthly rents will start at between $1,120 and $1,360 per person.

The newly-established address for the development is 25 Retreat Way.
