Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after the bodies of two Chenango Forks residents were discovered at separate locations.

State police described the deaths as "suspicious" but did not elaborate.

According to a news release, 63-year-old Scott Cleary was found dead in his home at 257 Parsons Road. The body of 38-year-old Matthew Lott, who lived with Cleary, was located a quarter-mile north of the residence near railroad tracks.

Troopers were sent to the Parsons Road house just before 9 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a man who was not breathing. Lott's body was discovered a short time later.

The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
