Tioga Downs Owner Nominated for Position in President Biden’s Administration
Per a report by Robert Harding of Auburnpub.com, Owner of Tioga Downs Casino Resort Jeffrey Gural was nominated by President Joe Biden to serve as chair of the Public Buildings Reform Board.
The nomination was announced by President Biden last week and Gural must be confirmed by the United States Senate to be appointed to the position. Currently, there are only three members of the board, short of the five members required for a quorum and the seven total member positions. If confirmed, Gural will be appointed for a six-year term.
The board serves a variety of real-estate related purposes for the Federal government, including selling or redeveloping high value and under-utilized assets, reducing the government's reliance on leased space, and reducing the operating and maintenance costs of Federal civilian real estate properties. It was created in 2016 to act as an independent agency to identify opportunities for the Federal government to reduce its inventory of civilian real estate properties in an effort to lower costs.
Per Harding's report, Gural has served in a number of similar roles in real estate, including as chair of GFP Real Estate and previously as the chairman of Newmark Knight Frank, as part of the executive committee of The Real Estate Board of New York, as chairman of the board of directors of the Times Square Alliance and on the board of trustees of The New School in New York City.
Tioga Downs Casino Resort is located in Nichols, New York and Gural also owns Vernon Downs Casino Hotel, located in Vernon, New York.
