Suspicious Activity in Vehicle in Union Brings Drug Charges

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say an Endwell man was found with quantities of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine when they investigated a report of suspicious activity in a vehicle on East Main Street in the Town of Union Wednesday, August 24.

According to the Sheriff’s office, authorities received a report at 7:30 p.m. on August 24 of people in a vehicle who may be under the influence of narcotics in the area of 2105, which is the Speedway gas station on East Main Street in Endwell.

Deputies say subsequent investigation revealed that one of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as 46-year-old Jeffrey Prettyman, was in possession of quantities of Fentanyl and Meth., as well as packaging materials and scales commonly used to measure narcotics for sale.

The authorities say Prettyman was taken into custody without incident.

The other occupant of the vehicle was not identified in the Sheriff’s office news release and there is no word if that person may also face charges in the future.

Prettyman is charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (in the Third Degree, which is a Class B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (in the Seventh Degree, which is a Class A misdemeanor) and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia (in the Second Degree, which is a Class A misdemeanor).

Prettyman was taken to the Broome County Correctional facility in the Town of Dickinson to be processed through Centralized Arraignment.

If Prettyman is found guilty of just the Class B Felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3^rd, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison and a possible fine according to New York penal code.
