Man on New York Flight Arrested for Urinating on Another Passenger
A man flying from New York to New Delhi was arrested after drinking too much on the flight and urinating on an elderly woman.
According to a report by Ashok Sharma of NBC 10 Boston, Shankar Mishra was on a flight from New York to New Delhi and was arrested after another passenger claimed he became excessively intoxicated and urinated on her. Mishra was picked up by police and taken to the Indian Capital before a New Delhi court sent him to prison for two weeks while the complaint is investigated. He faces up to three years in prison if he's convicted.
The report also noted that Mishra was terminated by his employer, Wells Fargo & Company and was banned from flying on Air India flights for 30 days, a punishment that stirred social media activists into a frenzy as being too light. The incident occurred on November 26, but the flight crew believed that Mishra and the woman had settled the incident themselves so the police were not called. Later, the woman's family pressed Air India to punish Mishra and the airline filed the police complaint this week.
Campbell Wilson, CEO and managing director of Air India, said "Air India acknowledges that it could have handled these matters better, both in the air and on the ground and is committed to taking action."
I can't imagine a worse flight experience, and that's including the time a friend of mine was unlucky enough to be in the splash zone of a man who vomited on a flight, forcing the plane to turn around and go back home. Obviously some common sense was left at the baggage terminal by most of the people involved here.
