A driver who lead police agencies on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen pickup truck from Endicott to the town of Maine faces several felony charges.

Authorities said 21-year-old Samuel Pierce of Candor was arrested following the chase on Monday afternoon.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Pierce was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado that had been stolen from Susquehanna County.

Endicott police tried to stop the truck on Monroe Street in the village but the vehicle sped away.

The truck wound up heading out of Endicott on Nanticoke Avenue. Police pursued the truck on Nanticoke Drive and Bradley Creek Road. A sheriff's deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away.

The truck slowed down at the intersection of Pitkin Hill and Fredericks roads, where two teenage girls jumped from the vehicle into a field.

The chase resumed with the truck driving at a high rate of speed until it got stuck in the mud in the front yard of a home near Bradley Creek and Haskins roads. That's where Pierce was taken into custody.

Deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun in the stolen vehicle.

Pierce was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. He also was charged with reckless endangerment and unlawfully pursuing a police officer, along with 17 traffic violations.

Pierce was arraigned and ordered held at Broome County Jail.
