Even though we are getting closer to colder months, road work and construction projects are still happening throughout our local roadways.  Below, you will find current projects that we are aware of. Keep in mind that road work schedules can change at any time.

Remember to slow down in road work/construction areas. Let's keep everyone safe - the road crew, other motorists, and of course you and your passengers.

Binghamton Area

  • Work continues on Washington Street from Henry Street to Clinton Street.
  • Leroy Street, from Helen Street to Kneeland Avenue, is closed to through traffic during working hours but reopens overnight and on weekends. A detour is in place on Riverside Drive. Leroy Street is expected to reopen by the second week of October, with work then beginning on Helen Street.
  • Roadwork on Interstate 81 northbound between Exit 6 South and North U.S.Route 11 Ramp in Chenango and Exit 7 of U.S. Route 11 in Chenango, one alternate lane of two lanes blocked for bridge rail repairs over Fuller Road. Interstate 81 northbound between Exits 16 & 21 with overnight closures through October 17th from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Work on U.S. Route 11, both directions, between Century Drive in Binghamton and Page Road in Binghamton. Two 2 north of four lanes are blocked for wall replacement through November 15th between the hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Roadwork on Route 7 in both directions between Carlin Road in Conklin and Powers Road. One alternate lane of two lanes is blocked for culvert replacement on Route 7 over Carlin Creek between Carlin Road and Powers Road through October 21st, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Roadwork on US Route 11 in both directions between Century Drive and Page Road. Two north lanes of four are blocked for wall replacement through November 15th between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Johnson City

  • Road work will begin on October 13th, potentially lasting until October 16th on North Arch Street, North Baldwin Street, North Harrison Street, Fairfax Avenue, Miller Street,  Fairview Street and and surrounding areas. Traffic will be strictly limited to local traffic only, but there will be road closures at times with traffic control and delays. Parts of Harry L Drive will also be affected.Access to driveways will also be affected once the paving process begins on each particular road. The Village notes that they will need all parked cars removed from working locations by 6 a.m. on working days. Resident vehicles will be allowed to park on the road from the end of the workday until 6 a.m. the following morning.
  • Road work continues in the downtown area on Main Street & Avenue C & Willow Street.

Vestal

  • Vestal Avenue between Chadwick Road and Rush Avenue will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, October 18th, weather dependent, to allow for paving operations.
  • Roadwork on Route 17 westbound over Choconut Creek in Vestal. One alternate lane of two lanes blocked for bridge repairs to occur through October 17th during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Town of Union

  • Roadwork on Route 201 northbound in the Town of Union, Town of Vestal Line. One lane of the two lanes may be blocked for the soundwall removal and replacement on Route 201 Northbound at the Riverside Drive Exit through October 17th.

Broome County Highway Work for the Week of October 13

  • Milling Broome County Airport Road – County Route 069, 4 lanes between Harry L. Drive and East Maine Road/Lewis Road
  • Shoulder work on Killawog Hill Road, Knapp Road & Hale Eddy River Road
    Cleaning ditches on Old State Road, Trim Street, Taft Avenue & Old Newark Valley Road
  • Culvert work on Powers Road, Trim Street & Taft Avenue
  • Mowing right-of-way on several county roads
