The Johnson City New York Holiday Parade Returns For 2023
'Tis the holiday season, and it's obvious everywhere you look around the Southern Tier of New York.
Holiday decorations have already begun to adorn neighborhood homes, and after the Thanksgiving holiday, we will see a lot more. I love driving around our communities looking at all the amazing Christmas displays.
The celebrations, parties, and events are everywhere you look over the next month as well. That includes two holiday parades in the Triple Cities this year. It's been a few years since we've had two. We used to have three - with the third being the Binghamton Holiday Parade.
First up, will be the return of the Johnson City Holiday Parade. The last time this parade kicked off, was before the pandemic. This is a one-of-a-kind parade, and a favorite among many since it occurs in the evening. That means lots of festive colors on just about every parade participant.
The Johnson City Holiday Parade will kick off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 30th at the corner of Main Street and Lester Avenue, and end at the Arch Street Bridge. It's about a 90-minute parade.
Johnson City officials note that Main Street will be closed to traffic from the Johnson City/Binghamton line to Arch Street beginning at 6:45 p.m. until the end of the parade.
On-street parking on Main Street will be prohibited beginning at 5:30 p.m. until the end of the parade. Starting at 6 p.m., access to Laurel Street will be limited until the end of the parade.
Another event happening this season in Johnson City is the Lights on the Carousel, which will be held on Friday, December 1st & Saturday, December 2nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The historic CFJ Carousel in Johnson City will be in operation and decorated for the holidays Santa will also be there to greet kids.
The 2nd parade is the annual Endicott Holiday Parade. This parade will be on Saturday, December 2nd, and will kick off at 4 p.m. traveling south on Washington Avenue in Endicott.
The Endicott Festival of Trees will be held on Wednesday, November 29th at the Endicott Visitor's Center at 300 Lincoln Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Tree lighting will be at 7 p.m. at Endicott's Memorial Park.
