The Mom’s House program was founded in 1983 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and served young mothers who were looking to improve the financial situation of their families by completing their education in order to secure good jobs.

Programs offered include free childcare while the parent is in school, workshops in child development, nutrition, CPR, educational options, financial planning and boosting self-esteem. There is also tutoring in some cases, referrals to support agencies and even possible food and clothing.

Any single, divorced or legally separated parent who is attending school and has a child between six weeks old and five years old may be eligible.  Those enrolled agree to attend full or part time courses at a minimum of six hours, maintain passing grades and assist with service and fundraising hours each semester.
