Former Finger Lakes Cop Accused of On-Duty Sexual Assault
A former officer at several municipal police departments in New York State is accused of Criminal Sex Act and Official Misconduct.
New York State Police say 29-year-old Kristofor O’Rourke of Newfield, who was last employed by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, and before that, the Watkins Glen Police, Mt. Morris Police and Geneseo Police, was arrested Monday, November 28 and accused of sexual misconduct on the job.
Authorities are looking for anyone who may have had inappropriate contact with former Officer O'Rourke.
According to several media accounts, while employed as a police office for Geneseo, O'Rourke alleged engaged in improper sexual contact with a woman he had stopped on July 1 for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. He is charged with felony Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree and misdemeanor Official Misconduct, accused of engaging in oral sex with the woman with her consent and under threat of taking her to jail.
O'Rourke is recorded as resigning in August in order to take a job with the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office.
That office was alerted to a complaint against the officer in Cortland County alleging serious misconduct in the form of inappropriate sexual conversations with a citizen and placed O'Rourke on administrative leave. O'Rourke was reportedly fired but was not charged with anything.
O'Rourke's work in law enforcement agencies where he was employed throughout the region is currently being reviewed.
He had apparently worked part-time for the Mt. Morris Police Department in 2021 and also worked for the Watkins Glen Police Department in Schuyler County.
O'Rourke pleaded not guilty to felony Criminal Sexual Act and Official Misconduct and was released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance has been scheduled for December 13 in Village of Geneseo Court.
An order of protection has been issued for the reported victim.
