The village of Endicott is preparing to take legal action to deal with trouble at a home near a school.

Police have been dealing with complaints related to the property at 108 South Loder Avenue in recent months.

Authorities have reported apparent drug use, loose dogs and "general disorder" at the house which is across the street from Jennie F. Snapp Middle School.

The Endicott village board on Monday approved a resolution authorizing attorneys to take action against the property owner due to multiple code violations.

Mayor Nick Burlingame said people at the residence have been responsible for "disturbances and disruptiveness." He told WNBF News due to its proximity to the school, "we have to take action."

Union-Endicott school superintendent Nichole Wolfe declined to comment directly about issues related to the Loder Avenue site. In an email, she said "any concerns brought forth concering that property" were reported to the school resource officer "and handled by Endicott police."

Public records identify the property owner as Michael Gillette of Endicott. He could not be reached for comment.

A neighbor said there had been a lot of trash piled up on the property but much of that had been cleaned up over the past couple of days.

Among the issues reported by the neighbor were loose dogs and people target shooting with BB guns.
