Describing Binghamton, New York in Your Words
Binghamton, New York means a lot of different things to different people, so we asked you to share your descriptions of the city with us.
Now I've only been here for about seven months, so I'm certainly not an expert on what the locals think of the Binghamton area. That's why I asked the community to help me out and compile a list of one word descriptions for Binghamton.
Of course, some of the descriptions are fairly obvious. We all know that Binghamton is the carousel capital of the world and the birthplace of IBM. And we all know that the Spiedie reigns supreme in the area, and inexplicably only in this area. I mean seriously, how have they not at least become a staple of all cities in the northeast region? They should have gone national by now.
Also to nobody's surprise, there were plenty of comments about the Binghamton weather. And it couldn't come at a more perfect time, because I don't see a lick of sunshine in our immediate future. In fact, I can't even remember how long it's been since I've actually seen the sun instead of brighter clouds.
There were plenty of comments about the weather and the well-known history, but also comments about what Binghamton means to people. From family to complicated to exhausted, the locals have some really specific vibes of the Binghamton area that they were more than happy to share with me.
So here's a gallery of all the ways you described Binghamton to a novice local like myself.
