Two City of Cortland men are facing felony counts following an investigation into a complaint abut a man stealing from Tractor Supply on Route 13 then taking off in a vehicle.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say they were called to the business in the Town of Cortlandville on Sunday, August 7 when Tractor Supply staff said they saw a man steal something then drive off.

Deputies, who were nearby when the call came in, were able to find a vehicle matching the description given by the employees and stopped it.

During the investigation, authorities say they found 54-year-old Michael Rogers and 29-year-old Anthony Sigler, both of the City of Cortland, also matched the description of suspects given by workers at the store.

Deputies say they found there was “a substantial amount” of heroin and methamphetamine packaged for sale in Rogers’ and Sigler’s vehicle.

Rogers and Sigler are each charged with two felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. That is a Class B Felony.

The Sheriff’s office says Rogers was already free on his own recognizance from an arrested that had been made by the Cortland County Drug Task Force on May 25th, 2022.  In that case, Rogers is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree with intent to sell methamphetamine and heroin, multiple counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree with intent to sell.

For the August 7th arrest, Rogers was sent to the Cortland County Jail.

Seigler was released on his own recognizance following the Sunday arrest and ordered to appear in Cortlandville Court later this month.
