Broome County To Host Softball and Boys Basketball State Championships
Officials have announced that Broome County has been chosen as the host for the Softball and Boys' Basketball State Championships from 2025 to 2027.
The Visions Veterans Memorial Arena will be the venue for the Boys' Basketball State Championship, while the Softball State Championship will take place at the newly named Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park, formerly known as BAGSAI.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar expressed his excitement about this achievement, stating that it is a huge win for Broome County on multiple levels. He emphasized that it benefits local hotels, restaurants, and the economy.
Brenda Gowe, Broome County Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services Director, is thrilled about being chosen to host the Softball Championships at the Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park. Gowe mentioned the collaborative effort from various entities in Broome County and expressed eagerness to showcase the state-of-the-art facility to student-athletes, coaches, parents, and fans from across the state.
Chris Marion, Visions Veterans Memorial Arena and Forum Director, expressed pride in hosting the New York State Boys' Basketball Championships at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena starting in 2025.
