Police agencies in the Binghamton area on Monday morning had been advised to be on the lookout for a 42-year-old man. He was said to have appeared on Facebook Live while driving a vehicle, wearing body armor and armed with a handgun.

The man was believed to also have been in possession of an AR-15 rifle. He allegedly had made threats to use the weapons at a school or hospital.

Police located the suspect vehicle around 12:40 p.m. He was reported in custody about 45 minutes later.

Many Broome County school districts implemented "lockout" procedures as a precaution. Those districts included Johnson City, Whitney Point, Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley and Maine-Endwell.

All three hospitals in the county - Lourdes in Binghamton, Binghamton General Hospital and Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City - also went into a lockdown mode for a time.

Sheriff David Harder said charges were expected to be filed against the man after he was processed at the department's headquarters in the town of Dickinson.
