Binghamton emergency responders were busy Sunday and Monday, handling two vehicle extrications.

According to a report from the Binghamton Fire Department, on Sunday, February 22nd, around  6:20 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Washington Street and Morris Street in Binghamton, involving a rollover with entrapment.

 

Binghamton firefighters arrived at the scene where one of the vehicles was on its side with an occupant trapped inside. According to the report, Engine 1 and Squad 21 cut out the windshield to extricate the occupant from the vehicle.

The occupant sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital via ambulance.

On Monday, February 23rd, the Binghamton Fire Department noted that Group B responded to a serious two-car crash on Route 17 westbound near exit 72, just after 6 a.m.

A truck towing a trailer ended up with a guardrail penetrating through the center, with a passenger trapped in the truck's back seat. The driver was ejected and did not appear to be injured, according to the report.

Binghamton Fire Engine 4 workers extricated the trapped passenger, who was successfully removed and transported to a local hospital via ambulance.

Binghamton Fire noted that those two challenging incidents highlighted amazing teamwork and coordination between fire personnel and EMS partners.
