Binghamton Cannabis Project: Clinton Street Shop Planned
The Binghamton Planning Commission is considering a request for a special use permit for a cannabis store in the city's First Ward.
Juanita Williams, a Broome County woman, is preparing to open the retail business in a three-story building at 197 Clinton Street.
Williams appeared before the planning commission Tuesday to answer questions about the proposed store. She said it would be located on the ground floor

State cannabis regulators issued a retail dispensary license to Williams last February for a business called Exotic World NY.
Williams said the store would be located in space previously occupied by Paradise Hair World.
The cannabis business would be located next door to a massive residential development that has been proposed by a Long Island developer. That complex ultimately could have up to 288 apartments.

Members of the planning commission asked Williams a few general questions about parking and trash disposal at the site but they expressed no serious concerns about the proposed store.
A public hearing on the special use permit application has been scheduled for the planning commission's August 4 meeting.
Williams indicated she hopes to open the cannabis store this summer.
