Binghamton Beer Tree Restaurant Closing for a Major Makeover

Beer Tree Brew is planning some big changes for its newest operation in Broome County.

The Binghamton taproom and restaurant at 20 Hawley Street is scheduled to close after this Saturday for a major renovation project.

Downtown by Beer Tree Brew opened in March 2022. The site is located near the Binghamton University Downtown Center.

The downtown facility has indoor and outdoor seating areas, along with a rooftop section which has featured live music.

General manager Jordan Needham said the renovated site will look a lot different from the current operation. He said it will offer "more upscale" dining than the two older Beer Tree Brew locations in Port Crane and Johnson City.

The downtown restaurant will continue to sell Beer Tree products on tap and in cans.

Needham said the changes to the downtown site are being made during January, which is typically a slow month for the business. He expects the renovated restaurant will open in early February.

The move is happening at a time of growing competition among restaurants and bars in downtown Binghamton.

Stadium 138, former mayor Richard David's beer garden and sports bar, opened in late December. Courtside Bar & Grill opened on Court Street in October.

Additional eateries and taverns are planning to start operating downtown in the near future.
