Apalachin Resident Charged After Vestal Parkway Rollover Crash
A driver was charged with DWI and several other traffic violations following a vehicle crash on the Vestal Parkway near the former Chucksters Fun Park.
Authorities said the rollover crash happened around 9:45 a.m. Monday on Route 434 west of Castle Gardens Road.
The first Vestal police officer on the scene found a vehicle on its roof in some bushes off the Vestal Parkway West between Owego Road and Parkwood Road. He reported the vehicle's roof was crushed in and there was "heavy entrapment."
Police said the officer made contact with the driver. She was extricated from the wrecked vehicle by Vestal firefighters. She then was transported to a hospital by the Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad for evaluation.
According to Vestal police, the driver - 42-year-old Myrtho Joseph of Apalachin was charged with eight vehicle and traffic violations.
Among the charges: driving while intoxicated, not wearing a seatbelt and refusing a roadside breath test. The driver also was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving an uninspected vehicle.
A police department release on the incident provided no details on any of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The scene was located near the entrance to CK'Sters Fun Park. The business which had been known as Chucksters was renamed after it was sold in August 2022.
