Alyssa Crosby says she's "so happy" with the outpouring of support she's received from people in the Binghamton area after her appearance on The Voice.

Crosby told WNBF News "it has been a crazy couple of days" since the program aired on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Binghamton woman performed a soulful version of "Hand in My Pocket," which was a hit for Alanis Morissette in 1995.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program Thursday, Crosby expressed appreciation for "the love that everyone in the community" has given her. She said she's happy that she's "made everybody proud and represented our little area well."

Crosby sang as part of the "blind auditions" segment of The Voice. The tension built as the song was coming to an end. Finally, one of the coaches - Reba McEntire - tapped her button and turned her chair, choosing Crosby to be on her team in the upcoming competition.

Crosby said many years ago, she made a decision that someday she would be on The Voice. She said she tried harder every time she failed to make it onto the program.

Crosby said she made some changes in her life a few years ago. She said she "learned to love myself and get to know myself and get comfortable in my skin."

Since then, she said, "my voice has gotten stronger, my confidence has gotten stronger, my whole life has changed."

The next episode of The Voice will be presented on NBC on Monday at 8 p.m.

Crosby said she's looking forward to singing the national anthem for the season opening game for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Mirabito Stadium on April 5.
