The after-hours passport fair will offer a convenient opportunity for residents to obtain or renew their passports outside of regular business hours.

The passport fair will run from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will operate on an appointment-only basis. To secure an appointment, interested individuals can sign up through the official website. Reservations will also come with the added benefit of free ground-level parking.

According to Broome County Clerk Joseph Mihalko, the after-hours passport fair is an initiative aimed at providing convenience for the local community. He stated, "Our office is holding this event as a convenience to our friends and neighbors around Broome County who need to obtain a passport but may not be able to come into our downtown Binghamton office during normal business hours."

The fair will take place at the Broome County Clerk's Office, located in the Broome County Office Building at 60 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901. During the fair, application forms will be readily available, and on-site photographers will be present to capture passport photos. Alternatively, applicants can download a copy of the passport application in advance from the official website of the U.S. Department of State at www.travel.state.gov.

Applicants attending the fair must bring the following documents:

  • An original or certified copy of their birth certificate with a raised seal and both parents' names.
  • A valid photo ID.
  • Two (2) checks to cover the required fees.
  • The places and dates of birth of their parents to accurately complete the passport application.

Parents of children under 18 must accompany their children during the passport application process.

The fees for adult passport applications amount to $130, while children under the age of 16 can apply for passports at a cost of $100. Additionally, passport cards will be available, though they are only valid for land and cruise ship travel. Adult passport cards are priced at $30, while children's passport cards cost $15. Each application will incur a $35 processing fee, and passport photos will require a separate $10 fee. Expedited services and expedited returns may entail additional fees.

For further information, individuals can refer to the passport FAQs available on the Broome County Clerk's website.
