Climb, Explore, Discover at Vestal’s Fire Safety Expo
The Vestal Fire Department is once again hosting its annual Fire Safety Expo. This free community event is happening on Saturday, October 4th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Barnes & Noble parking lot in Vestal. It’s not just for Vestal residents either. Everyone across the Twin Tiers is invited to come out, meet local first responders, and discover all the ways they keep our neighborhoods safe.
Building Memories and Inspiring Future Helpers
When my boy was little, this was one of his favorite events of the year. He could hardly contain his excitement about climbing up into the trucks, watching live demonstrations, and asking endless questions to firefighters and police officers. Those experiences left a lasting impression, he learned not just about fire safety, but about community service and the importance of teamwork.
Hands On Demos and Meet the Heroes Behind the Uniforms
This year’s expo promises another unforgettable lineup. There will be demonstrations on auto extrication, live fire behavior, improper cooking safety, and live power lines. And yes, the fire trucks will be there in all their glory. You’ll also get the chance to meet and talk with the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Broome County OES, and mutual aid partners. It’s a rare opportunity to see so many agencies in one place, ready to share what they do and answer your questions.
Fire Trucks, Family Fun, and a Side of BBQ
What’s a community event without good food? A BBQ food truck will be on site serving up lunch, so you can make a whole day of it. Grab a bite, watch the demonstrations, and let the kids climb on the trucks.

Celebrating Community Heroes, Together
The Vestal Fire Safety Expo is more than an event, it’s a celebration of the people who run toward emergencies when the rest of us are running away. Bring your family, bring your friends, and take part in a day that’s educational, exciting, and above all, built on community spirit.
