New York Is One of the Top Candy States in America
Candy lovers, you are in luck. A new study says New York is the fourth biggest candy capital in the United States.
How the Study Was Done
The study came from Pricelisto, a price-tracking website. They looked at over 23,000 different candy stores across the country. Then, they compared the number of stores to each state’s population. That helped them find out which states have the most candy shops for every 100,000 people.
New York Comes in Fourth
The Empire State has 9.11 (ironic number for New York) candy stores for every 100,000 people. That makes it fourth on the list with 1,782 candy stores in the state. Only California has more stores.
A Famous Candy Store in New York
One of the most well-known candy shops in New York is Economy Candy in New York City. It opened in 1937 and has been going strong ever since. Inside, you’ll find all kinds of sweets and treats including nuts and dried fruit. It’s a favorite stop for candy lovers of all ages.
Who Beat New York?
Vermont took the top spot with 12.2 candy stores per 100,000 people. New Hampshire was second with 10.63, and Maine came in third with 9.74. These smaller states have fewer people, but they sure have a sweet tooth.

Why It Matters
This study shows how much New Yorkers love their sweets. Whether you’re in the city or upstate, there’s no shortage of places to grab a treat. So if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re in a great place. New York is full of candy shops ready to satisfy your cravings.
