New Yorkers Are Ready for a Career Change
If you’ve been thinking about switching careers or going back to school, you are not alone. A new study shows New York is one of the top states where people are thinking about a big change.
New York Ranks 4th in the Nation
According to St. Thomas University Online, New York ranks 4th in the entire country for interest in reskilling and going back to school. That’s based on Google search data, which found 563 searches per 100,000 residents on things like “career change” and “online degree.”
The Top Searches Say It All
When New Yorkers hit the search bar, the top terms are “online master’s degree programs,” “online MBA,” and “career change.” People are curious about furthering their education and finding a new path.

Most Mid-Career Workers Are Considering a Switch
The study also showed that nearly 90% of professionals between the ages of 30 and 55 are thinking about changing their career. Out of those, 60% said they would consider going back to school for a graduate degree to make it happen.
Earning More Is the Main Goal
Why are so many New Yorkers putting in the extra work? Money plays a big part with 61% of mid career professionals saying they would go back to school to try and make more money.
What This Means for New Yorkers
For New Yorkers, this shows that they want to better their lives in a financial way with new opportunities. Whether it’s trying to get a better paycheck, following a dream, or just wanting to try something different, the Empire State is full of people ready to take the next big step.
