Kirkwood’s Hometown Christmas Is an All-Day Holiday Celebration Families Love
If you’re trying to come up with a festive plan that doesn’t involve sitting around the house, put the Kirkwood Hometown Christmas on your list. It’s happening this Saturday, December 6, and it’s one of those easy, laid-back events where kids can run around, you can actually enjoy yourself, and everyone leaves in a better mood.
Kirkwood Hometown Christmas is essentially a full day of Christmas-themed activities happening all over town, starting in the morning and culminating in the evening parade and tree lighting.
The Morning Is Made for Pancakes, Crafts, and Santa
Things get going first thing in the morning with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Bell Elementary. From late morning into the early afternoon, enjoy a children’s Christmas party with Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with free cookies and cocoa, at the Kirkwood Fire Station from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Music, Wagon Rides, and So Much to Do
From 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the festivities at the Kirkwood Town Garage kick into high gear. This is where you’ll find the Live Nativity, barrel wagon rides, Christmas music, and lots of food. You can sample cookies from a cookie contest, check out gingerbread houses, and taste different chilis while voting for your favorite.
There’s also a fun food activity for kids, and the Humane Society will be there with pets available for adoption, which is always a hit. And yes, there’s free food and desserts thanks to some very generous local churches and Nirchi’s Pizza of Conklin, which parents everywhere can appreciate.
End the Day With Lights, Fireworks, and Music
If you can, don’t leave early. The evening parade lines up around 5:30 p.m., followed by the Lighted Christmas Parade at 6:00 p.m. Right after that, at Valley Park, there’s a tree lighting, fireworks, food trucks, and even live music from Allie Torto.

A Simple Way to Enjoy the Season
This is one of those holiday events where you don’t have to overthink it. Show up when you can, stay as long as you want, and let the kids enjoy the moment. Whether you make a full day of it or just catch part of the schedule, Kirkwood Hometown Christmas really does make it easy to feel the season a little more this weekend.
