New York Shoppers Warned After Huge Frozen Food Recall
A food recall is getting national attention, and it could directly affect what’s sitting in your freezer right now.
Nationwide Recall Could Affect Your Freezer
More than 3 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice have been recalled after concerns that some packages may contain glass. The recall was announced by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service and involves products distributed across the U.S., including New York, as well as parts of Canada.
Even though no injuries have been reported so far, this is the kind of recall you don’t want to ignore.
Which Frozen Meals Are Recalled?
Two main frozen items are part of this recall:
• Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with vegetables, eggs, and seasoned chicken
• Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-style fried rice
The affected products were produced between September 8 and November 17, 2025. Best-by dates generally fall between September 2026 and November 2026, depending on the package.
Another identifying detail is the USDA inspection mark with the establishment number P-18356 printed on the packaging.
How Glass Was Discovered in the Food
The manufacturer launched the recall after several customers reported finding glass pieces in the fried rice. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the risk of internal injury from contaminated food is obviously serious enough to trigger a nationwide recall. If you live in New York and shop at Trader Joe’s, this is definitely one worth double-checking.

Steps to Take If You Have Recalled Products
If you find one of these recalled products at home:
• Do not eat it
• Either throw it away or return it to the store for a refund
If you have already eaten some and feel concerned, reaching out to your healthcare provider is the safest move.
