Eldridge Park in Elmira is a true gem just waiting to be explored. Located on 47 acres, Eldridge Park has been a staple of the community for generations and offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

The park was named in honor of Dr. Eldridge, a local physician who opened the park in 1879. Elmira purchased the park in 1885.

As the city began to develop the park, it added a variety of attractions, including a carousel in 1924. In 1937, a wooden roller coaster called the Speedway Coaster was built. Four years later, the Whip ride was added to the park's attractions.

In 1942 a second carousel was added after the first caught fire earlier that year. The 1940s also saw the creation of a stage where various acts could perform. In 1960, a fire destroyed the restaurant in the park, which was rebuilt, but torn down in the 1970s.

By the 1980s, Eldridge Park was mostly in decline. However, in the 1990s, the city began to revitalize the park by constructing new sports fields and re-opening the carousel as a craft market, before eventually reopening it as a ride.

In 2013, Eldridge Park experienced a remarkable transformation with the introduction of a brand-new midway, and today, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers, Eldridge Park offers a wide variety of attractions and activities for visitors of all ages.

Two of the most popular attractions are the dragon-themed paddle boats which allow visitors to explore the waters of the lake. The other favorite is the legendary Jasper II. This all-electric motorboat pays homage to the original Jasper motorboat from the early 20th century, complete with its carved dragon head. Hear the resounding roar as you glide across the water, resurrecting the spirit of the mythical sea serpent.
