By now, we've ALL heard about Damar Hamlin from the Buffalo Bills. The young man suffered a cardiac arrest after making a tackle in the first quarter of the Monday Night Football game on January 2nd.

Shortly after the incident, it was so moving when we watched  players from both sides getting on their knees in prayer without caring what anyone else thought. It was nice to see and it's been nothing short of a miracle.

Damar Hamlin Is Recovering

He's not only doing well (all things considered), but in the words of the doctors that treated him, he's "not just awake but the lights are on." Hamlin was unable to speak because of all the tubes but one of the first questions that he asked was "Who won the game?" The doctor replied "You did, you won the game of life."

I have to admit that the actions of everyone including the players, fans, and people that don't watch sports at all is refreshing. It's given me hope that there is a chance for us yet.

We hear all the time that we are bad people with words like racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. That's not what I saw on Monday night  and it's sad that it took something like this to bring so many people together.

What We Witnessed When Damar Hamlin Was Down

Seeing grown men weep then drop to their knees to ask a higher power to step in and help their fallen competitor. Watching as the Bengals team visited the Bills locker room to encourage them.

How Cincinnati and the stadium was lit all night in Buffalo blue to remind EVERYONE to pray for Hamlin. How any one could say the word "God" or "prayer" and no one objected.

It takes an event like this to help remind us of what's really important in life...and that's life itself. We say that we'll never forget this (and I hope we do) but I'm reminded on how fast some people forgot about 9/11.

God Bless You, Damar.
