Binghamton University Earns Higher Education Excellence In Diversity Award
Binghamton University has done it again! They've won the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine for the third straight year.
The HEED Award is a special honor given to colleges and universities across the United States that go above and beyond to promote diversity and inclusivity on their campuses. Binghamton isn't the only SUNY school doing a great job with diversity.
They join Stony Brook University, Farmingdale State College, SUNY Old Westbury, Rockland Community College, and SUNY Oneonta in earning this award. Binghamton University is working hard to create a more diverse environment for all students and their work is paying off.
One example of Binghamton's commitment to diversity is their range of academic and professional development programs. The Watson College Scholars Program and the School of Management's Transformational Leaders Program are just a few of their initiatives that help students from underrepresented groups thrive and succeed.
Binghamton University Wins Diversity Award Again
Karen Jones, the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Binghamton is thrilled about the recognition. She knows that creating a campus that appreciates and embraces diversity is very important. That's why Binghamton offers programs like the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) which gives support to students who may be at a disadvantage but still have the drive to be their very best.
Lenore Pearlstein, the publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has taken note of Binghamton's success in winning the HEED Award for the third year in a row. It's not an easy task winning The HEED Award as the application process looks at everything from leadership support for diversity to campus culture and climate.
Well done Binghamton U. and let's go Bearcats!
