One of the things that I love about Binghamton is its hockey. This is a hockey town for sure with its rich tradition that goes back 50 years. We've had a lot of great players that have laced them up in Bingo town.

We all have our favorite players and memories but that will be a story for another day. Binghamton began to honor our hockey greats (both on and off the ice) by enshrining them in the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998.

This is the first induction ceremony since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm so glad it's back and I'm sure that the three latest inductees are happy too...especially since they had to wait three years for this. Here are this year's inductees:

Binghamton Hockey Hall Of Fame Class Of 2023

Josh Hennessy - Hennessy was a second-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2003. He played in Binghamton in the 2006-07 season and was a part of the Binghamton Senators for four seasons.

He played in the 2007 AHL-Star Classic and recorded 99 goals and 114 assists during his time in Binghamton. He also skated with the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins.

Charlie Jaworski - Jaworski was a writer for the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin from 1973-2011. He covered the Broome County Dusters, Binghamton Whalers, Binghamton Rangers, BC Icemen, along with the 2011 Calder Cup Champion, Binghamton Senators. Jaworski was a big part of Fox 40's production of Love at First Shot.

Patrice Robitalle - Robitalle was a part of the BC Icemen for three years starting in 1998. In his first season, he lead the team in assists (57) and second in goals (18) as he tallied 75 points. In his second season, he had 89 points to rank 12th in the league.

Binghamton Hockey Hall Of Fame Ceremony

They will be officially inducted into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday, April 7th before the Binghamton Black Bears game against the Delaware Thunder. The Black Bears will wear their 50th Anniversary jerseys as they honor Binghamton's rich hockey history. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game.
