Mark your calendars for April 13th at 1 p.m.as we rally behind an amazing little girl named Mia, who is bravely battling kidney cancer.

A benefit for Mia will be held at the Sherwood Hotel Greene and will offer a mouthwatering sausage sandwich with two sides and a drink for just $18. There'll  be basket raffles to raise funds for Mia and her family while they're going through this challenging time.

Mia is a spirited little 2 1/2-year-old who lives in Lisle with her parents, Kristen and William (BJ), along with her big sister, Lilly. The family recently got devastating news when Mia was diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms Tumor, a rare form of kidney cancer. She had surgery on March 22nd, and had her entire kidney removed.

When they were told about a slight perforation to the tumor, the parents were faced with the reality that Mia would need radiation treatments three to four times a week for at least four weeks. After that, she'll have to undergo chemotherapy.

Both of Mia's parents are self-employed, and they will have to take time off from work to be there for their daughter throughout the treatment process. To help out, friends of Mia and her family are putting together this benefit to raise much-needed funds for the family.

The financial strain of medical bills, time off from work, and other expenses can be overwhelming. So the community is doing all that they can to help alleviate some of the burden for Mia's family.

The benefit will be filled with good food, fun times and that every dollar raised will make a difference in Mia's fight against cancer. Mark your calendars for April 13th and head down to the Sherwood Hotel in Greene. Your contribution will help Mia and her family, while lifting their spirits during this challenging journey.

God Bless You, Mia...and your family.
