Aja Jackson From Broome Named SUNY’s Overall Scholar-Athlete of the Year
SUNY Broome runner Aja Jackson has been named the 2023-24 Overall Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in the women's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) category. This is the third award Jackson has won this academic year, and a remarkable achievement. She beat out other female fall and spring award winners from NJCAA sports to win this latest honor, which is an overall award that includes all the sports they represent.

Aja Jackson's outstanding academic and athletic achievements have propelled her to the top of the SUNY Overall Scholar-Athlete of the Year (SAOTY) award in the women's NJCAA category. Her exceptional performance in both cross country and track & field events, combined with her impressive academic record, showcases her dedication and hard work.
Impressive Academic and Athletic Performance
Jackson recently graduated from SUNY Broome with a cumulative GPA of 3.78, majoring in Business Administration. Her accomplishments extend beyond the classroom, as she finished sixth overall at the 2023 NJCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country National Championships and was the National Champion in the 10K at the 2024 NJCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.

Jackson's recognition as the SUNY SAOTY award winner for the NJCAA women’s category is not a standalone achievement.
