Adam Weitsman Makes Impactful Donation to Broome County School
A Broome County school that was facing an uncertain future can now breathe a little bit easier, for now, thanks to a generous donation from businessman Adam Weitsman.
In 2022, of Broome County President Joy Yarkoni contacted Weitsman to let him know that the academy was struggling and facing closure. Yarkoni explained that the school did not have the necessary funds to stay open for another school year.
Hillel Academy is a pluralistic Jewish day school that educates children from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade in which “instructors tailor the pace and style of education to the specific strengths, needs, and learning style of each child.”

In response to the plea for help from Yarkoni, Weitsman joined the Executive Board of Hillel Academy and since has worked to keep the school afloat including by making a donation of $250,000 to assist with the operational costs of Hillel Academy during the 2023 academic year.
In a statement sent to Townsquare Media, Weitsman explained that his parents have been involved with Hillel Academy for many years and that his own family has been involved with the school by attending functions, plays, and other activities.
Weitsman said, “When I heard that the school needed assistance, I felt it was my obligation and pleasure to step in and help however I could.”
In another act of giving, on Friday, March 10, Weitsman announced on his Facebook page that he has an upcoming personal goal to do all that he can to make sure that every single person in the 315 and 607 area codes has the food that they need to sustain them no matter what their personal situation is.
