New York and New Jersey could become one of the biggest financial winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A new report projects the tournament could bring an estimated $3.3 billion in economic impact for the area.

New York And New Jersey Will Host The World Cup Final

According to Doc's Sports, the New York and New Jersey region will host eight World Cup matches, including the championship match at MetLife Stadium. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest in history, with 48 teams and 104 matches spread across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They say the United States will host 78 of those matches.

More Than 1.2 Million Visitors Expected

The report projects that 1.2 million visitors will travel to the New York and New Jersey area during the tournament. They estimate the event could also have more than 26,000 jobs connected to tourism, hospitality, transportation, retail, and entertainment. The study found the region could bring in $432 million in state and local tax revenue from tournament spending.

Businesses Could See Huge Tourism Boost

Experts say hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, and transportation services may see major increases in business during the World Cup. The report estimated visitors could spend more than $5,000 per person during their trips. Average daily visitor spending could be over $415 per day.

Hotel Prices Are Already Rising

Hotel prices in host cities are already climbing with hotel rates during game days averaging more than 30% above normal prices. The study also found hotel prices jumped nearly 15% shortly after the group stage draw was announced. With the World Cup Final coming to the New York and New Jersey area, the region could have one of the biggest tourism and economic booms in recent history.
