Well, I've reached that age where my doctor told me that I should get screened for colon

cancer and I will have my first colonoscopy tomorrow.

I had a friend tell me this weekend that he thinks it's a waste of time and money and it's just a scam for the doctors and the medical industry to make money. I told him I disagree. I think anytime you can be screened for cancer you should have it done.

When it comes to cancer usually the sooner they find it the better chances are of survival. And being that I had bladder cancer almost 10 years ago, I know it's better to catch it before it gets out of control.

So I haven't had a solid meal since last night. They put me on a liquid diet for the entire day prior to the procedure. And tonight I will have to start drinking the dreaded mix. I've heard horror stories about the colon cleanse that doctors prescribe for colonoscopies.

But I'm hoping it won't be that bad. When I went for my prep meeting, the doctor asked me if I was allergic to something, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. But as far as I know I'm not allergic to anything so I said no. She said that's a good thing because that would enable her to prescribe the prep that most people do not have any issues with drinking.

So after I get off the air tomorrow I will be going to have the procedure done. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers that they don't find anything and I won't have to have this done for at least another 10 years.
