Leonard Nimoy, 83, is one of those iconic giants that we take for granted. as news of his passing spreads, I want to make sure people know him for more than Star Trek.

Mr. Nimoy passed away this morning at his home from complications of COPD, according to multiple reports. He will be missed greatly.

Did you know he directed Three Men and a Baby? Or that he did many commercials in the 70's and 80's? And that he narrated and lent his voice to several video games?

Nimoy is much more than Spock.  His career started in 1951 in the movie Queen for a Day. He was in Wagon Train, Sea Hunt, Dragnet.... the biggest shows of the era.

It's fine to remember his Spock, he loved that role, but tip your hat to his other career pieces too!

Star Trek produced two of my favorite TV/movie quotes ever.
"Live long and prosper" - a great message as people pass in life.
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...or the one." That was a tearjerker moment.

Back to Nimoy's other works. Here are some roles you may not remember.

  • 1

    Mission Impossible

Between 1969 and 1971, Leonard Nimoy was Paris on this legendary show.

  • 2

    In Search of ...

This show explored mysteries like the Bermuda Triangle, aliens and more. Nimoy was the stellar narrator.

  • 3

    Fringe

This Fox series only lasted 3 years, but it was a SciFi masterpiece. Nimoy played William Bell.

  • 4

    Bruno Mars Lazy Song Video

Leonard Nimoy is more than an actor. He is a poet, lecturer, photographer, and music artist. Always one to help aspiring talent, he agreed to be in this Bruno Mars video. Cool!

  • 5

    The Poet

Nimoy is a poet and had the chance to showcase it on the Captain and Tennille Show. The segment is only the tip of the iceberg on this talent of his!

  • 6

    The Singer

This may not have been his best talent, but he was fun to watch perform!

  • 7

    The Photographer

His eye for the world around him was not limited to being used for just one talent. These pictures were very sought after!

  • 8

    The Star

Leonard Nimoy did an amazing job of promoting his projects. This is a gem of an appearance from the Merv Griffin Show.

  • 9

    The Mentor

Zachary Quinto took over the role of Spock in the latest Star trek movies. Nimoy was there to help...and haze!

  • 10

    The Only Spock

Sorry Quinto. This is Mr. Spock. The one and only. This was my favorite scene ever from any Star Trek project.
