Last week, on my last day of work before vacation, I decided that I was not going to open Facebook for the entire week. I didn't log back on to my Facebook account until Monday morning when I rolled into the station. And I didn't miss it at all.

With all the negativity and bickering on Facebook, I decided I needed a break. Don't get me wrong, I think Facebook is a great tool to keep in contact with friends and family. But with all the political posts and people arguing with each other over political posts, I had to shut it down. I've seen families  tearing each other apart on Facebook over political posts.

It's almost like you can't have your own opinion nowadays. You could post on Facebook that the sky is blue and you would have people lining up to argue with you. Some of the arguments are down right nasty and some even include someone threatening someone over a post.

My mother used to remind me of that old saying, never talk about politics or religion. Every now and then I will post something about an event happening at my church, but I don't push my religious beliefs on anybody. You believe what you want to believe. And when it comes to politics, I'm not going to change my mind on any candidate  over something that somebody posted on Facebook.

And don't get me started on the conspiracy theory people. According to some people, everything is a conspiracy. I bet there are people out there that think the government made the sky blue so we would stand there and stare at it, while they, the government, broke into our house and stole our toilet paper.

The way I look at Facebook, if you don't agree with something somebody posted, you can always send them a private message and maybe have an intelligent conversation about it. You can also unfriend them, unfollow them, or snooze them so you don't see their posts for a while. Otherwise, just like my mother used to tell me when I was young, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go return a week's worth of pokes on Facebook.
