I Run For… Half Marathon Featured on Southern Tier Close Up
The I Run For... Half Marathon organization is celebrating its fifth year raising money for charity and challenging runners with the hills of the Town of Maine.
Founder, Steve Seepersaud is the September 1st guest on the weekly, local public affairs program Southern Tier Close Up talking about how the run got started in 2014 to raise money for cancer research after his sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer.
Seepersaud reflects on how he and his family got into running and how the event on Route 26 in the Town of Maine was first received, being such a different concept from other runs in the area. Aside from its unique and challenging rural course, I Run For... has the distinction of being a run to honor who or what inspires participants and to benefit different charities.
This year, the American Red Cross Southern Tier Chapter is a primary beneficiary of the I Run For.. Half Marathon September 9.
Registration for the marathon is closed but runners can still sign up for the other courses and volunteers are welcome. Information on the start times for the runs, registration and volunteering can be found at www.irunforhalfmarathon.com.
Southern Tier Close Up is heard Sunday at 6 am on 99.1 The Whale.
