Hot, humid conditions are expected for the Twin Tiers.

The National Weather Service issued a Heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. August 6 for areas to the west of Binghamton, including Tioga, Chemung and Tompkins Counties.

NOAA says Heat Index values could range from the mid to upper 90s due to temperatures in the lower 90s, and dewpoints in the upper 60s from the midday hours into the early evening.

The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Temperatures are expected to return to the 80s with lower humidity after some storms are expected to pass through August 7-8.
