Heart, Jason Bonham 2013 Tour to Feature Joint Led Zeppelin Encore
Newly-selected Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Heart will join forces with Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience for a 2013 summer tour that will feature them together onstage for a 30-minute Led Zeppelin tribute to close out each show.
Heart sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson first met Bonham -- the son of the late Zeppelin drummer John Bonham -- when they performed the Zep classic 'Stairway to Heaven' at the Kennedy Center Honors in December of 2012. More than six million fans have viewed that incendiary performance online since.
But the Wilson sisters' ties to Zeppelin's music go back much further than that; they performed ‘Rock and Roll‘ as their live encore for many years, and they recorded ‘The Battle of Evermore‘ in their side project, the Lovemongers, and have performed that live as well.
Bonham has helmed his own group and toured and recorded with the likes of Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers, and is also the drummer in the classic rock super group Black Country Communion. He has toured successfully with his Led Zeppelin Experience since 2010.
In a press release, Ann Wilson said the upcoming tour will feature "awesome rock 'n' roll music every night . . . miracles apt to happen any old time (quote via USA Today)."
The tour kicks off on June 17 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
